Citation converter questions
How does the converter work?
An AI model (openai/gpt-6-luna via Vercel AI Gateway) reads your pasted citation into fields — authors, year, title, journal and so on — and is instructed never to add information that isn’t there. CiteFast’s own rule-based formatter then writes the citation in each style, so the formatting is consistent and predictable.
Can it convert APA to MLA?
Yes, and any other direction between APA, MLA, Chicago and Harvard. One thing to check: APA stores only initials, so an MLA or Chicago version converted from APA will show initials instead of full first names. Add the full names in the generator if you have them.
Can I convert a whole reference list at once?
Convert one citation at a time for accuracy, and use “Save to drawer” after each. The drawer then copies the whole list in your chosen style, alphabetised.
Is my text stored?
No. The citation is sent once to be read and is not saved on our side. Saved citations live only in your browser.
